NO RETURNS ALLOWEDMy one star review is based on the return policy. For a product that has to fit perfectly in order to be effective, not allowing returns is terrible customer service! By the measurements I should be a size 4, but it doesn t fit. Sad, because I think this would be the perfect product for my fractured DIP joint if it fit, but I m not going to keep spending $15 on trial an error with no option of returning the UNUSED product. 1Great for preventing injury due to hypermobile jointsI bought this splint as one of my fingers has become hypermobile suddenly. I wanted to prevent the joint from over extending and causing further damage until I am able to see a specialist, and this splint does just that. I have what is called a swan finger issue and this splint prevents the middle joint from overextending. However, I must mention that it does not stop the top joint from it. So if you have the same issue you might want to see about getting a second splint to prevent it from overextending as well.You can see from the photos how now my left finger looks almost normal with the splint on compared to without it. However, it does not prevent me from holding the finger straight and bending just the tip, but it does keep that middle joint from bending in too far while doing that. Which from what I can tell does cause significantly less strain on my hand with the splint on.Just keep in mind that the splint is not a replacement for seeing a dr and getting the issue fixed. It is simply just a device to fix the symptoms of an issue rather than the issue itself. (except for if a dr recommends one for a fractured or bent finger) 5Ingenious design, functional, easy to use product helps heal trigger finger/thumbOval-8 Finger Splint Single Size Pack - Size 9 (Package of 1)I was delighted to find this design of finger splint, having struggled with athletic self stick bandages, clumsy braces, and those horrible metal splints. I have managed two trigger fingers for years using a tube made out of athletic bandage at night to keep the fingers straight and allow them to rest.When I developed a trigger thumb, it was critical to find a way to immobilize the thumb as I wanted to avoid surgery. I found the Oval-8 originally in a medical supply store while looking for a better athletic tape, and was absolutely delighted at the simplicity of design, sturdiness, and easy of use. Cheaper to buy on Amazon as well.Each sized splint is designed to be both a full and half size depending on which end is put on first - and my thumb swells occasionally, so I keep several sizes on hand and can easily choose the right fit for that day. Washing hands, using gloves, performing any task is pretty easy with minor functional issues (hard to put on jewelry for example). After about 6 months of wearing the Oval-8, my trigger thumb pain and inflammation is gone, and I can actually function without it now.Be aware that if you wear the Oval-8 18-24 hours a day, you may develop skin irritation at the points of most contact. I solved that problem by wearing a small bandaid over the knuckle of my thumb (just wear a larger size Oval-8).Theorizing that my condition likely would reoccur if I just stopped using the Oval-8, I now wear the splint at the office for computer work, and at home part of the day. I remove it when I get home from work and use the hand normally during the evening. Then I use one of the tubes I create from a pretty purple athletic wrap, so my hand is quite the sight at night, with the thumb and two fingers decorated! Using the softer option for sleep works for me.I highly recommend the Oval-8. Ingeniously designed products like this help consumers of health care manage conditions that otherwise require invasive techniques at much lower cost with many fewer side effects. As a medical librarian, I teach consumer health and plan to use this experience as a case study example for my workshops. 5Too expensive for the risksI am very unhappy with this product. I had to use their printable sizing guide. Measured 3 times and each time it said I had a size 7 finger, with a little to spare. I really thought it should be larger than that, but I went with their recommendation because the multi-pack was just too expensive. Unfortunately, the splint is too small, especially since I need to wear it with the cross bar on the knuckle and not behind it. Since there is a restocking fee, I don't see any way to resolve this. It's expensive, it arrives in a baggie, and there's nothing I can do about my dissatisfaction. Not my idea of a good vendor. 1The splint that gives you your finger back!This splint literally gives you your life back while still keeping your finger in extension when you have an extensor tensor (mallet finger) type injury. So small you forget it s even there and lets you have better use of the digit while still keeping it immobilized. The 3 point products (manufacturer) website has a sizing guide. Tip: Pinching the oval of the bottom of the splint together while running the splint under hot water to soften it a bit gives you a little extra space to get your finger in if you re a little snug at first. Really a great product! 5Great temporary remedy!Trigger thumb is a horrible, horrible thing!! I suffered with it for about a month before I discovered the Oval-8 Splints. I've been using them for several months now and am waiting to get in to see a specialist. These splints are wonderful. They are flesh colored and discreet - unlike many of the other treatments for trigger thumb or trigger finger. They keep your finger in one position so that it doesn't catch and cause pain. You must know the size of the Oval-8 splint that you need and you can print off a sizer on their website. I ordered one of the packages that came with three sizes and have actually worn two different sizes depending on the swelling I have. I wear them every day and they are pretty sturdy as I work with my hands a lot and have never had any problems.My doctor said she recommends these as a temporary remedy until a specialist is seen and a permanent remedy can be found. The amount of pain relief I have experienced from wearing these splints is wonderful and I would recommend them to anyone suffering from any sort of pain from an injured finger or trigger finger. 5What a great little splint!My thumb kept snapping from an injury, and with this splint, I have been able to keep it from bending and hopefully healing. The first couple of hours it feels like a bandaid, but never slips or comes off, so using it throughout the day and night are very easy. Sure wish I would have known about this nice little product a month ago. I can tell my thumb is already trying to heal and I will be so happy when that happens, especially knowing such a small device that no one even notices is helping. It has not kept me from doing anything I do, including typing, and would highly recommend this to anyone having trigger finger or thumb issues. 5I found the Size 5 fit best, even though the online sizing chart suggested size ...I injured my finger playing basketball, and had no idea why the tip of my ring finger was laying limp and couldn't straighten! I found out from my doctor that I had mallet finger, and it would take at least 8 weeks to heal and I would have to keep it completely straight the entire 8 weeks. It was summer time, and wearing a splint or a cast of any sort was the last thing I wanted to do.I first tried out different "mallet splints" but they were bulky and made it difficult to type on the computer, which is about 75% of my job every day. I found the Oval-8 splint online and reviewed it. The reviews were positive, but I was skeptical that it would stay on and provide the straight splinting that I needed all day. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! I first used the sizing chart provided by 3 Point Products website and youtube video, and purchased the 3-pack of splints to get the right size. I found the Size 5 fit best, even though the online sizing chart suggested size 4, which was way too tight. After wearing the size 5 for a while, I bought an extra one separately as a backup.After 8 weeks of wearing the product diligently, I took off the splint and my finger was straight and no more mallet finger! I still wear it occasionally when working out or doing activities with my hands, as well as night-splinting which was required by the Doc for 4 more weeks.Some notes to be aware of:--After washing and drying hands, the splint can get slippery, so be careful when drying your hands so it doesn't slide off. After your hands are dry, the slippery-ness is gone and no problems.--When lifting weights and playing golf, I used a different splint to provide more protection, but in a pinch I use the Oval-8 and wrap a lot of tape around it and it works well.--Typing was so easy with the Oval-8, and I barely could tell it was there most of the time. After a few weeks, I did develop a callous around the knuckle where it came in contact with skin, but nothing major.--It doesn't stand out like a bigger splint that has to be taped up, so people stopped asking me what was wrong!--I barely noticed it, and because there is no tape necessary, you didn't have to constantly take it off to change the wet tape out, or clean it off. Other splints got gross after a few days.Overall, very very satisfied with this product and would recommend to anyone with mallet finger to give it a try. Its the easiest splint to keep on at all times so you can recover as quick as possible. 5Not durable and overpricedIt broke the first day I used it. It seemed like a good idea and it did kind of prevent my finger from flexing - until it broke. I had the size 13, so it was a fairly large size. I would assume they would take into account that someone with a larger hand may need a stronger device. I was simply flexing my hand to grip something when it broke. The finger with the splint on wants to bend with the other fingers and snapped it. It seemed to fit well and stayed on OK, so I think it was sized right. If it wouldn't have broken so easily, I would have given it a good rating. So, for $11.99 I got something that lasted a day. 1RElieved My Joint PainOut of nowhere trigger thumb. Both thumb joints were involved. First I tried a black support brace that was very noticeable and only partially effective. Upon further research I came upon this little piece if plastic finger splint. Reading the reviews I wanted to try it. Upon its arrival after putting it on my thumb as instructed I felt immediate joint relief. Easy to wear. Much more discreet. I am hoping this will aid in the joint repairing and no further intervention will be required. It is pain free while wearing the splint. I ordered size 11 but think it could be a size smaller as it slips off quite easily when in contact with water. Follow the sizing instructions carefully as it is non refundable. My 4 star rating instead of 5 is for pricing. One plastic ring for $ 11 bucks. 4
