Customer Reviews

these are great for the pricethese are great for the price! i tore two of my ligaments years ago while playing tennis and ever since then my ankle has not been stable. i've tried multiple ankle supports from Amazon that had very good reviews but they just felt like another layer of socks (previous reviews did mention this but i ignored). I also tried other ankle braces such as the ASO Ankle Brace. Although ASO is good, i felt it was too big to fit in my shoes. Aircast A60 are reasonably priced and fit properly in your right sized shoe in that you would need to order a bigger size shoe to fit these. the support is great. i've been using them for over a month. it took 5 sessions to get used to them. once you're comfortable wearing them, the support is good. i've not twisted my ankle once every since i've been using these. 5ITEM ARRIVED ON TIME BUT NOT IN A WAY THAT WAS EXPECTEDI purchased this item as a gift for someone. The box that came with the item was not sealed and the product was just floating in the box without the plastic protective covering, not very sanitary. This is not what I would give to someone or use for myself. I will like to return it, and filled out the form to do so and received a message not eligible for return. I am not very happy about this. 1After trying six different ankle braces this is the one which works for me !I love this ankle support! Of the five different ankle supports I've tried this is my favorite. With partial paralysis in one leg and foot I had trouble finding a support brace that would keep my ankle from rolling but still allow me to raise my foot up. A molded cast type brace, an Arizona Brace, which was made for me but it was too restrictive. This Aircast A60 Ankle Support Brace is much more comfortable than the Bauerfeind Malleoloc, which worked for me but was difficult for me to put on ( there are rods in my spine so I don't bend much). The Aircast A60 goes on like a sock (albeit it does require a bit more tugging, especially at first) and I can fasten the Velcro straps myself. Such wonderful independence to not need help! The other ankle supports I've tried are; a simple black elastic Velcro attached ace bandage sort of thing, Aircast Air Stirrup Universe, and a Mueller Lite Ankle Brace. These just let my ankle slip around in them or didn't offer enough rigidity. A McDavid Ankle Brace with strap which laced up did not give enough support either. The Bauerfeind Malleloc held my ankle very rigid but was bulkier and impossible for me to put on by myself.Even though one of the reviews for the Aircast A60 said it wears out quickly I figure I can buy five of them for the cost of one Bauerfeind Malleloc. Plus the Aircast A60 is much more comfortable and easier to put on.The first few times you put the Aircast A60 on it is tight and a little difficult, plus the Velcro is VERY aggressive and someone else had to help me get out of it the first time. But it soon 'works in' and comes on and off without too much effort. I'm very grateful to have found this Aircast A60 solution to my particular needs. 5Don't buy this brace unless you can try it first!!I really dislike purchasing health-related items sight unseen like this because I'm disabled and it's difficult to go out shopping for items that aren't already known to be at a certain store or another.Unfortunately, I bought this but I'm in the process of cancelling the order for the left ankle (thank goodness that they were on backorder). The point is: I wear a size 14.5 men's shoe, and have to go with a 15 from some brands and a 14 from others, dependent upon whether they run large or a bit snug. Yes, a huge pain in the arse finding 15s and even 14s. This brace said 12+ for large so it should be a bit small. This is not the case. This brace is too large for my big feet, and my ankles are swollen. It is still too big. I imagine the next large/right ankle would fit differently. Do yourself a favor and buy something perhaps more expensive, but something you can try out first, remember everything like this stretches out after one use. I didn't look to see where it was made, so that's on me if it's Myanmar or somesuch. 1This is great since you do need to wash the brace after ...I brought this as a back up. Same as the one I received at the doctors office for half the price. Same company and style. Be sure you are getting the same make and model as the one from your doctor. This is great since you do need to wash the brace after a few days of wearing it 24/7. It takes about 12 hours to dry since it must be hand washed and air dried. You can't go that long without wearing one. So it is great to have one on hand. As I said same as the one I received from the doctor at half the cost. 5Good ankle support, but size does matterOne of the better support items for ankles - but not without issues. I wear a 6 1/2 shoe, so I purchased the size Small according to the sizing chart. This was after a broke my ankle (lower fibula) and even though it was healed, there was still a bit of swelling. The Aircast arrived and I tried it out and it's very comfortable, and gives a good deal of support (because of the stiff sides). At the same time this brace is also very bendable front-to-back, letting you flex your foot and walk properly. It's nice, but after wearing it a couple of hours on the 2nd day I found my foot feeling fatigued. I think this is due to the brace being slightly too tight and sits too low, making my shoe not slide on properly.I looked at the Aircast website, and watched a couple of Youtube videos on how this thing should fit and what people had to say. I think I should have ordered a medium, for a couple of reasons:1) Since my foot and ankle are still slightly swollen, my shoes size is most likely larger than normal.2). Because my foot is slightly swollen, the part that goes under my arch is a bit too small, making the hard places on the brace go down a bit too low.Since a 6 1/2 is right at the top of the size 1 sizing chart, Medium would have been a better choice for me for that foot.Because I still need side support for outdoor activities, I am going to try purchasing the Medium. I am not returning the small, as I think eventually that one might work later when things are back to normal (if that ever happens). Once I get the Medium, I will append my review here and update the stars as needed. 4This is a fantastic brace with a brutally short life span. This is a fantastic brace with a brutally short life span. I have chronic ankle problems, and after my latest (basketball) injury I purchased several braces (and have tried many over the years) as this last injury came about while wearing one. The Aircast, while having a slightly awkward/not as tight feel as others, seemed to give the best protection when it comes to rolling out an ankle. Wore it as I get back into basketball and some martial arts. After only a couple of months (and light use, as I am easing myself back in, not playing often), the brace started coming apart. You can see in the photos how on the bottom, some of the stabalizing peices punched through the brace. This compromised the stability of the brace, as well as being very uncomfortable. Loved this to start, but a brace at this price should last much longer than these seem to. 1I love the support of my lace up but was hoping ...I was looking for an ankle brace that would provide sufficient support but also have a quick on/off feature instead of my current lace up brace. I love the support of my lace up but was hoping for something convenient and easy to remove at the beach. I need the support walking to and from as well as walking on the beach but don't want the lace hassle. I wear a 5.5 (US) shoe and this is supposed to fit as small as a 5, however, it is pretty big, which is probably why I am not getting the support I had hoped for. I have worn it around the house, with and without a shoe. I feel this would be perfect for someone with bigger feet and maybe even a bigger ankle. There was no XS option or that might have done the trick. I will give it a shot at the beach next week but also carry my other brace just in case.FYI, I had a subtalar fusion in February of this year. 3) after a bad ankle sprain and bone contusionI purchased this ankle support to replace the Aircast Gel Splint given to me in the emergency room (for which my insurance was charged $278 for a $40 splint...grrr!) after a bad ankle sprain and bone contusion. This ankle support was comfortable, provided reassuring support and fit inside most of my shoes which allowed me to get around easily while completing physical therapy. 5Highly recommend while on the mend and for continuing support. After purchasing a few other versions this is definitely the best and one I would recommend. This one is not for the initial issue but during my rehab from ankle side tendon tears and Achilles' tendon damage it is fantastic for my rehab. It does not completely restrict movement but offers a lot of support and is comfortable to wear, way more than the others I purchased.I was unable to walk, put pressure on my ankle with other ankle supports unassisted. (Without a crutch or at least highly utilizing a cane to support me) 5
