Better than compression stockingsLove these braces. the velcro straps mean that you can adjust the fit perfectly for needs and comfort. I tried them to see if they would edema in my lower legs and also tried compression stockings. These were much more comfortable as the stockings would either hit a pressure point at the top of the shin, or roll down causing pain at the ankle. With these braces, there is no pressure point and you can readjust it during the day if needed for extra support. The only drawback is that the velcro is ripping of of one straps so I will have to sew it back on. Also, I would suggest 2 sets if you plan to use every day. They are neoprene and so they get warm and sweaty if worn for several hours. Without any washing they get smelly. 5Bad ProductI wore this for no less than a day and the Velcro already started to rip. I don t do any extreme activity or sports only casual running and workouts while wearing the brace. Honestly this let me down knowing it probably won t last me that long until I have to buy another pair . I would not recommend this to anyone. 1Excellent ProductI was looking for Calf Support brave. After my several searches and research, I finally chose this product.The product arrived on time on Saturday, as promised.After using it for 2 days, i feel very comfortable with my calf pain.This product comes as a pair, which is very good. Once you start using, you may need it for both of your legs.The strip is very strong and materials used are very good. I really liked the quality and hope they lost longer took. 4I seriously strained or possibly tore my left calf muscle ...I seriously strained or possibly tore my left calf muscle or tendon while playing in a golf tournament. It was a miserably cold day (43 degrees with a wind chill many degrees colder) and I decided to "scamper" up a steep incline. I felt immediate pain in my calf and limped for the rest of the next several days. Then my brace arrived the second day after placing my order. I wore the brace for the following week and was able to walk normally, negotiate stairs, etc. The brace alleviated the pain and allowed me to do all the things I wanted to do. It's very simple to put on and take off and I slept with it on for the first few nights. 5Seller stands behind product.These were just the right amount of support to let me resume moderate exercise even with a mild case of shin splints. Now that I have fully recovered I continue to wear them because the added warmth is nice and the support allows me a more strenuous work out without injuring myself again. I would have gone 5 stars except one brace came apart at the seam after just a few workouts which would have been a deal killer but the seller had already contacted me asking if I was satisfied and when I told them about the issue they promptly had another pair sent to me at no charge and I have had no issues with the replacement pair. Clearly that seam on one of the first braces was slightly out of alignment and just caught the edge of the reinforced neoprene border. Otherwise this would have bee 5 stars. That seam is there by the way because the brace has a front and a back so the back is curved out to conform to your calf muscle while the front is much straighter to conform to your shin. Well thought out design 4Better at Compression than Shin SplintsThis review is from a perspective of preventing shin splints. It is also based on I have used other products primarily McDavid (lost during travel) & ACE (now discontinued). So when it comes to anterior shin splints it is a 3-star product since it is a quality compression sleeve with no integrated support. It is also fastened to start from the calves or rear to front. I think front to rear provides better support for preventing shin splints.I upped a star because after using it now for 90 days plus with modifications of adding reinforcing with velcro and foam tape I have accomplished what I set out to do (without shin splints) when I ordered these. That is to1. Increase my speed for nordic walking with ankle weights to a 4 mph avg up from 3.8.2. To be able to actually jog consistently after 20 years due to a foot injury.Notes: There are also quality shoes, support socks with neoprene calve sleeve and proper warm-up and cool down that is in combination to make the above happen. Shin splints are considered an overuse ailment and only with a combination that helped be "up my game". I can easily take the above combination and use my overpriced walking shoes and I will invariably feel foot pain and some shin discomfort.For those wanting a good compression sleeve, this is probably a 5-star product but need to have good-sized calves for the best fit. 4Best Compression Products I've FoundFor the past 5 years I have used different leg compression products -- support hose, wraps, braces, etc. -- and these wraps/braces from Bodyprox are the best I have found. They are made from high-quality material, and they are very affordable. (The first compression wraps I purchased years ago cost nearly ten times what I paid for these!) I ve had my step evaluated, I ve bought so many fitted sneakers, etc. It wasn t until a Doctor I know explained to me, that the bigger the calf muscles are, the harder it is for blood to flow through them. Of course I ignored this and continued running in pain until I pulled my calf on vacation running on the beach. I was referred to these by a friend and made my purchase. 4 weeks later I just completed my run wearing these. Endurance was a little off and speed, however this was the first time in a year plus I felt no pain in my calf or shins. It was amazing. 5Perfect for shin splints!I can t say enough good things about these calf braces! I worked all spring and summer to train for my first half marathon and about 3 weeks before I got terrible shin splints and i could barely run a mile anymore with out a lot of pain. So I bought calf sleeves and they helped a bit but I still experienced pain. The week before the race I decided to try these calf braces and I tried them the day before the race and for once I was able to run without pain! So I wore them in the half marathon today and was able to run the race without any pain at all!!! I think the big difference between the braces and the calf sleeves is the fact that you can adjust and tighten the brace as needed. So I made them tight on my leg and it s just what I needed! The calf sleeves weren t tight enough on my calves. 5
