Love love love!These candies are wonderful. The whole family loves them all but I think our favorites are the lemon and pear. All are yunny.5Great ProductI first found the Cavendish and Harvey hard fruit flavored drops when I was on a ski vacation in Europe. A luxury hotel in Germany had these on the night stands as part of their concierge welcome and comfort services. There are also some British and French versions in different brand, so I believe it's safe to say this type of premium hard fruit candy is a traditional European staple treat. To me, there is NO American- made and widely distributed equivalent for this type of slightly tart, thick, smooth round naturally fruit flavored drops in the pretty metal tins. Not Lifesavers, not lemon drops, just nothing. The first time experiencing Cavendish and Harvey Fruit Drops is rather unusual in one aspect. My candy arrived in great condition, and with an " extra". SURPRISE- The factory-sealed tins are packaged with white powdered sugar type powder all in them. It's not a flaw, it's not poison, but it is a bit messy. If you can anticipate this, then you will still have unpowdered clothing when opening the tin or offering someone else a candy from the tin. My preference is to remove the candy, dump out the powdered sugar, and then replace the candy in a clean tin. Saves some calories, or so I tell myself with a little chuckle. WHY I buy these now: I've been on a very strict diet for health and wellness and overall fitness, and I have used these candies to supplement the action of my toothpaste, as I sometimes have ketone breath. Also, my mouth is drier sometimes due to a medication I need which causes dry mouth in most who take it. I received one of each of the following varieties in a really pretty and fancy black and white " Black Tie" box, which would be perfect for gift-giving, and was very surprising to receive. My tins of the fruit drops in a 5.3 oz tin were Orange, Mixed Fruit, Pear & Blackberry, Wild Berry, Sour Cherry, Sour Lemon. The lemon and orange were the ones which refreshed my mouth and breath the most but were my least favorite flavors, personally, and just slightly. I used to buy these in the gourmet section of the supermarkets for YEARS after discovering them as a teen in Germany, but apparently, the importation or sales has been discontinued in my area. I think one or two a day is a good hunger and " empty mouth" solution for someone on a diet who is not a diabetic, of course. I am not sure of the calorie count, but it's fairly high per piece. I'm thinking around 40 calories per piece. Sometimes, it's totally worth it! You may prefer another type of " tiny cheat", but I have to pick something I can stop eating and not binge on ( so chocolate in 30-40 calorie amounts is OUT,) and also something that is a very small and very flavorful treat. I keep a tin of the European style fruit drops in my purse and have for many years. It's my guilty pleasure. That reminds me- In all the years I've lived in very warm to extremely hot areas of the USA, the candies have never melted or even stuck together in my purse. That's without the addition of any powdered sugar like this brand has, too. They are much more evolved and satisfying... The blackberry and Lear were my favorites, but I loved them all. The drops are dusted with powdered sugar (probably), so they do not stick together. There were no broken pieces in the tin that I've opened so far.The taste is good: not too sweet, good flavor throughout the drop. My only reservation is that they are larger than I expected: about 1" in diameter and a little bit more than 1/4" high. This makes them too big for inconspicuous use while talking. Can share a tin or keep spare in desk. Perfect. The little tins protect the candies from breakage or damp. It is also almost impossible to find a hard fruit candy, all are jelly fruits.The merchant boxes the tins in a HANDSOME Black Tie box - great for gifting or shipping. I used to steal them from my dad when I was little, and miss them terribly. After reading someone say they were close I ordered them... they were not close at all. First, not sour. Very sweet. I would describe them as the texture of jolly rancher, with the taste of hard life savers. Definetly not worth the price. However if you just want to try some new exciting candy that you ve never tried before. It might be worth it for you. So to recap, it s ok, but if you re looking for a altood sour clone, keep searching.3great little hard candies, great gift packagingNice gift and nice packaging for any time. The candies are great.... about 4 dollars a can... I did find individual cans of this exact candy at Kohl's for $2.98 so priced a little high but it is all there in one purchase and packaged very nice.5
