For household use we use the 16-oz. bag, but when I want an occasional cup or two later in the day or night, I use New Orleans Blend K-cups. The coffee made from K-cups is not quite as rich as coffee made in a regular coffee maker or coffee pot, probably because the coffee grounds in a regular coffee maker are allowed to absorb the coffee flavor for a longer time. The hot water runs more quickly through the K-cups, but that's the nature of K-cups--good coffee in a short time without the mess or a pot to clean. We use evaporated milk as a creamer, but using 50% almost scalded milk will yield coffee like that served at the French Market in New Orleans.5Pretty good stuff.Got a friend who's a junkie for this stuff. Lives out in Del Rio, about as far from Nuevo Orleans as ya can git. So I send him some with King Cake yearly. He and his wife are happy with it, all that counts right. I like it too, but not so much French Vanilla creamer won't carry me. It does have a different and unique taste to it that I like. I do like Community coffee though, it's a regular here.Of course if you're in S.E. Texas or S.W. Louisiana, it's either Community or Seaport. Sit down, sip a cup, and tell me how you like it." It was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! When I said so, with a big dumb grin, and added "I'd be a serious coffee drinker if I could get this up north." He said to just be sure he had my address right, and he would see to it.This coffee is RICH not strong, FLAVORFUL not bitter, and SMOOTH no bite, and it's just reasonable to fight over the last drop in the pot.There are other companies supplying Arabica with a bit of Chicory, but this is the best. My French press is by far the best way to brew any coffee, but Keurig does a good job with one cup at a time, and clean up is a lot easier. If you never really enjoyed coffee, take a sip of Community Coffee with Chicory, and have it delivered to you front door; and enjoy one of the finest treats of the South.And my southern co-worker was true to his word. Community Coffee is my favorite brand as they are a local business in Louisiana where I am from. The oils that sit on top of the coffee are where the flavor comes from, and there is a great deal. You normally have to use a French press to get that kind of quality so it's great to have the convenience of this in a k-cup! I was not a fan of the French Vanilla, but I think it would be good if you use a lot of sugar in your coffee. I only use a half of a tablespoon per cup. The hazelnut and pecan praline are delicious even if you drink your coffee black.5Excellent tasteI have been buying Community coffee for some time directly from the site but found I can buy it cheaper from Amazon. This is wonderful tasting coffee the pecan Parline tastes amazing, one of my favorites, you can actually taste the flavor it claims to have and be unlike most flavored coffees. Very smooth a nice dessert cup of coffee but I can drink this any time.5Great Coffee, but Not New Orleans Blend!I love CC's Coffee & Chicory New Orleans blend, but this actually isn't it (even though it's in the title). It is the original Coffee & Chicory blend, which has a little more bite to it than the New Orleans version. The wrong labeling is the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. Still fantastic coffee though! Just know what you are ordering isn't the New Orleans blend. It's mislabeled somewhere in the Amazon system, since it is mislabeled on the Amazon distribution sticker on box.4Good coffeeThis is very good mello American style coffee. It is not bitter tasting. It has a nice dark color and a full taste, but not overwhelming.5In the Name of Domestic Tranquility, Only New Orleans Blend for this householdSo what is Chicory?The chicory plant is a salad green, slightly more bitter than Romaine. The root roasted and ground has been used as a coffee Extender at least as far back as Napoleon's Day in France. When the British and Allied Blockade, AKA the Continental System restricted the Emperor's access to fresh Coffee the French added chicory root to their ground beans and insured the right drink to match up with their beignets. During the American Civil War it became popular in the blockaded south and in New Orleans they never exactly gave up the habit.Coffee Extender?Once prepared, Chicory has a deep brown color and added to coffee grounds (Dark or French Roast recommended) it will give the drink a very dark muddy brown color and add slight thickness to the brewed cup. The flavor tends to be more intense and may take some getting used to. Chicory is added to the ground coffee in ratio that varies between companies around 75% coffee to 25% chicory. Meaning you just turned 3 pots of coffee into 4. BTW as much as Chicory adds to the flavor of the coffee, it contains no caffeine and is said by both traditional and modern medicine to have beneficial health effects.Combined with pre-heated Milk in the right proportions and you have authentic New Orleans Cafe' au lait. As for that Caf ' Brulot and Caf Diable are such New Orleans traditions that done properly they are made in bowls and served in cups made only for these high powered adults only beverages. Either will leave your hotel blend coffee made "Irish" as a weak sister.Domestic TranquilityThe Wife like many natives of New O, esp those who grew up in the `Old Neighborhood" knows her coffee. Give her the aroma and a chance to look at the whole bean and she will give you country of origin, and quality of the roasting/storage for that bean. Never mind that Community Coffee, New Orleans Blend is mother' milk to her. Anything else simply `Will Not Do'.Of late she has become quit fond of her Keurig single cup coffee brewer- regretting only that until recently there was no plastic pre-measured cup at the ready to serve her steady drafts of New Orleans Blend.At Last Community Coffee meets Kuerig. That she can now have her New Orleans Blend made for her at the press of a button. Thus her almost every wish comes true. Now her thoughts turn to the multi-cup version of the Kuering...One last point: Please, Please, Please shop around. Your local store may have become sufficiently civilized as to carry this New Orleans staple in the K cup form. And this means no shipping and maybe a better deal. There are many on line places that offer New Orleans Blend, including direct from Community Coffee. It is on you to insure you are getting the best deal. I have seen prices vary over 100% from low to high.4Love Community CoffeeLove this coffee. I love this flavor of Community coffee, but I cannot find it locally. I order from Amazon and it is here in a couple days. Very robust flavor. I only drink Community coffee.5
