A shifting wave of flavorI have tried several brands of yerba mate, and this is by far the best. The flavor sort of bends with each sip. In other words it can't be pinned down. One reviewer said it had a fruity flavor, and another said the flavor was smoky. I think it is a combination of both where the fruitiness is dominant with one sip and then smokiness dominates the next sip. I absolutely love it. Cruz De Malta Mate has been marketed for about 146 years. If the company wasn't doing something right, it would not still be in business! I have also noticed a definite improvement in the functioning of my digestive system since I started drinking it.5Exactly like the kind found in Brazil!My husband s mother side of the family is from South America (Brazil). Every time we have family together, they were always drinking this tea they made from Yerba mata. I fell in love with it! They gave me a bag of Yerba they had brought back from Brazil! It was delicious and I used it fast!So I was looking for a replacement, and came across this product: Cruz de Malta. The pictures and descriptions matched what I had been given. It is ground up loose leaf and stems. It was packaged very tightly and shipping was super fast! And the best part, it tasted just like the kind I had straight from Brazil! I highly recommend this product!!5Very bitter mate.This is very bitter, and even in a super fine infuser particulate matter ends up everywhere. While I may get used to it after a while, I do recommend this only for Yerba Mate fans, and if this is your first time, to try a small size of Mate.2I did not likeGrew up with this brand to which my Argentinian dad maintains loyalty even to this day. I ordered from Amazon and packaging/delivery was excellent. However after having tried other brands this one seemed to have an off taste. The quality seems questionable, although I did wonder whether it was due to my own taste perception but later tried a completely new brand which seemed fine. I discarded all of this one.2The best Yerba Mate.This is some of the best Mate I have had. I like it better than the leading brands. I will be back for more of this in the future as it has a excellent flavor. Unlike many of the Yerba Mates on the market that taste bitter and almost awful. I dont drink it the traditional way, I usually mix it with some other teas that go together.5Delicious and BeneficialI love Yerba Mate! This brand is my favorite of all I have tried. One of the other brands I tried is Rosamonte because of the reviews stating it is stronger. I disagree with that. Cruz De malta Yerba Mate has more potency and flavor, in my opinion. I'm not sure what makes one different from the other, but not all Yerba Mate's are made equal. If you like a stronger, yet smooth flavored tea, you will love this! The Rosamonte is good also; It's just not as potent and full flavored as the Cruz De Malta. I most often drink this as a hot tea, but it is actually quite good as iced tea also.AND this stuff really does provide lots of energy and stamina. It's a pick me up that wins the long distance race, rather than just a sprint of energy then sleepy time at 3:00. My current schedule has me going non-stop from school to work with only 4 hours of down time to either sleep or study. Without my thermos of Mate, I would not make it through my week awake, functional, and acing my exams, while also working as a valet at night at 40 years old .My only issue is how the finely ground tea sprinkles out of the packaging. You definitely want to put this into a canister or other sealed container after you open it. That is best for any tea, but this one does not allow for the occasional lazy/in a hurry, I'll just reseal the bag day, unless you want the tea to spill out everywhere.5So yummy!I have been drinking Yerba mate for several years now, but am not an expert. However, some friends from Argentina gave me a bag of their favorite yerba a few months ago and finally tasted what Yerba mate should taste like. This brand lives up to the best I ve tasted straight from Argentina. Yum!5Not so greatI'm a big mate fan. I lived in Argentina as an exchange student in my high school years and then around when I was 30 I found I could order it online on Amazon. Since then I've tried various brands and some of them have such amazing flavors I'm brought back to my host family's kitchen in Corrientes. This is not one of those brands. There is the slightest of flavor, but for the most part it's hot green water. Not to mention that it's very powdery (which could be just my package). I've had better and will probably just stick to brands I know next time.2This brand had a smokier, danker, muskier taste ...This brand had a smokier, danker, muskier taste than the other brand I had. Still, it gives me more energy than coffee. This with a teaspoon of brown sugar and a tablespoon of heavy whipping cream, and you are in flavor country, my friend. Population: your taste buds.4Great for beginners and beyondI've only been drinking Yerba Mate for about 1 month. I did a lot of research beforehand and Cruz De Malta came out the clear winner of which I should try first. I read a bunch of reviews and the consensus is that it tastes like a stronger version of Green Tea. I pretty much agree with that. It takes a little while to determine the optimum water temperature, but I now know exactly which temperature suits me best. If you find it bitter, your water is too hot. Stick to between 160 - 170 degrees F (71-77 degrees C) and you will notice a big difference in the flavor, even within that range. Also, don't forget to add dummy water (room temp or cold) before you add the hot water, so the mate doesn't get shocked, which will also make it bitter.I have tried several other brands, some very well regarded, and have found them wanting. In that case, I mix them with Cruz De Malta and all is right with the world again.Mate isn't for everyone. It takes a little while to learn how to prepare it properly and how to enjoy it (proper gourd and bombilla selection). If you aren't willing to do that, then don't bother. For those of us that do, I can see the pursuit of the perfect mate could be a lifetime journey. In the meantime I'm willing to enjoy many mates along the way. This will continue to be my "go to" Yerba mate until I find another that can change my mind. Until then, Salud!5Elixir of the Argentines.Tastes great and provides hours of clean energy. It's a perfect middle ground between tea and coffee, light and refreshing but with the added kick of theobromine. Great amount for the price, too.5Great mate for the price.I love mate and have been drinking it for over 25 years. I have tried different brands. Usually, I never care what brand, just let me have my mate....This seems a little milder in flavor than some I have used, but definitely that mate taste. I love the price. I transferred it to 2 canning jars after opening because of the reviews. So, I had no issues with spillage. I keep 1 jar in the refrigerator, to keep fresh; and the other is next to the teapot, ready to go.5Pure Yerba is Good Yerba!YUMYUMYUMYUMThis is the only brand of Yerba Mate that I like anymore.Tastes so pure and refreshing, I highly recommend this!5
