Love theseAdded #2 these to my newly remodeled walk in shower since I don't have good balance and am handicap. They look beautiful and can double for washcloth or towel holders. My contractor added additional 2X4s support just to make sure these where really secure in the wall and would not pull out. This may not be necessary but I am heavyset and have an older home where the framing did not match the length of the bar measurements exactly. Just measure where your studs are to make sure these will not be in your hallow wall. 5Very pleased with my grab barsI bought some Moen grab bars for my bathrooms, but got cold feet when it came to drilling through the marble tile - I was concerned that they would rust and not last in a wet environment. Very glad I bought these Stainless bars instead, after 2 years they still look brand new. Well worth the money, especially if you are spending the time to drill through tile - there's no going back from that decision and you want something that will last.I am deducting one star, because as has been mentioned here, the holes on the 16" bar are not 16" on center as you might expect, they are more like 17 1/4 or 17 1/2, so you maybe can hit the outside edges of the studs - not a great solution. Same story on the 32" bars, of which I also have a couple. For me, I drilled new mounting holes in the flanges of the bar at 16" and used those - not a major project at all if you have a drill press or drill gun and a nice sharp bit. Probably easier and safer to just custom drill mounting holes as opposed to trying to use anchors or angle your drive. 4Good price, quality and recommended by my physical/occupational therapist.Very well made, especially for the price. It also works well for larger hands.I didn't notice that there was a knurled/peened version until after the smooth version arrived. I don't know if that makes that much of a difference when wet or not. Something to consider before buying.Due to space restrictions (1.5"), I also had to get another brand for outside the shower that had a smaller mounting footprint. It works fine but the Franklin Brass one is so much nicer, better quality and was actually cheaper. It just needs a 3" mounting area, 1.5" too big.Also bought the 12" version. This review applies to that one also.Same product, different size. 5Versatile!Useful for older folks like me that need to hold on to something while taking off shoes. Beats leaving finger prints on the wall. Also makes a darned good towel rack. Not so good for doing chin ups. 4Perfect grab bar for stepping out of the showerI mounted this on the tile just outside our sliding shower door, as my 83 year old mother was coming to stay for a couple of months and we wanted her to have something to help keep her stable as she stepped in and out of the tub.I used diamond tile hole saws to make openings for the screws, and used silicone seal around the screws and holes to prevent water intrusion. The tiles stop about 18" short of the ceiling, so I was able to use a stud finder above the tiles on the wall to locate the studs, then hang a plumb line to find the location of the stud behind the tiles.Once mounted into the studs this grab bar is super solid. I'm 6' 5" and not small and I felt perfectly comfortable hanging on it to perform a pseudo "fall" as a test. It looks exactly like the grab bars you see everywhere, meaning they aren't necessarily designer pieces, but they aren't supposed to be, they are supposed to be effective safety devices while not being ugly, and at that they succeed. 5... stainless steel grab bar shower handle has a very good quality materialsThis heavy duty shiny stainless steel grab bar shower handle has a very good quality materials. I like it. It was an Excellent choice. 5qualityUnfortunately, in my waning years, I have to rely on hand rails to move about my dwelling. There are many such rails in my possession, so that I have become well versed in their workmanship. This company in china produces the poorest product I've seen so far, poor quality control. If it was easy to return, I would. My health hinders this activity, I would have to pay someone to perform this task, like I pay to have it installed. Perhaps the handyman can make it work, where it wont be used much, the welds will have to be attended to. I tried to save a few dollars, now it will cost me to use it. Used the local muffler shop, bend tubing and weld flanges for some specialty rails. Will have them make more in the future. 1Excellent product!!My husband recently installed 4 of these safety bars around my extremely large "garden" bathtub. I have Stage 4 osteoarthritis of the knee's and have a very difficult time getting in and out of the tub. I was amazed at how well-made and sturdy these safety bars are! If installed exactly according to the directions (in wall studs for strength), they don't budge at all. We've discovered that putting them in at an angle (instead of parallel or horizontal as in the picture), actually helps me to pull myself up out of the tub with much less effort. Particularly love the solid covers to hide the screws. One note: depending on how large the studs are in your home, you may not be able to get all of the screws into a stud. My husband was able to get all but one or two per end into the stud...even so, there are multiple screws in the ends...enough to still hold it firmly. 5Hollow bar Solid value!My wife and I bought this for her parents to use as they are in need of assistance from time to time getting in and out of the shower. This bar is a cinch to install and comes with a variety of holes to allow you to fit just about any stud spacing. You may have to angle to bar to do this ( which is what I did ) but that actually can make it fit the natural "lay" of your hand. The covers twist in place to cover the mounts too. No setscrews to deal with. 5Well made and easy to install if you have the right tools and ...Well made and easy to install if you have the right tools and your wall studs are on 16 inch centers. Need bubble level, drill with screwdriver and small bit. Good screws to ensure sufficient support for attachment. Only item was washer that covers flange that attaches to wall was difficult to get loose then couldn't get it to go back over the flange with out using a hammer and slightly change shape. 4
