Wonderful, high quality HWB!!!This is of superlative e quality. I bought this as a Valentine for my husband who always has cold feet. He caught a cold so I gave it to him early. This bottle looks and feels just like the one my family had over 40 years ago. I love the metal part in the neck of the bottle, and the rubber gasket on the stopper. Shop around and you will soon see that most bottles are not constructed nearly so well. Used with common sense, this is a very safe hot water bottle. You won't have to worry about it leaking onto your bed or furniture, either. I should point out that this is made of natural rubber, and thus smells rather rubbery. The smell quickly fades, so this is a minor annoyance. This is a great product that I would buy again. In fact I DID buy another for my sister...Thanks for a really great product!! 5Excellent product; highly recommended.I consider myself somewhat of a hot water bottle expert, being the main caregiver for my 95-yr. old mother, who is cold even in July, let alone winter in CT. I fill a bottle at least a few times daily. We've purchased several different types of HW bottles over the years, always at one drugstore chain or another. This is our first Home Top, and after the first week of multiple daily fills, this HW bottle is, BY FAR, my favorite.First off, I like the uniform fill spout. There is no "filler flap", with a hole for hanging the bottle, that gets in the way of the funnel. Now, the funnel sits securely and evenly on the bottle. This allows me to hold the bottle safely at the neck w/ one hand and pour in the water from the pot with the other. Previously, I needed to hold the bottle at the neck using tongs because the funnel couldn't seat itself securely.2nd, the inside of the filler neck is made of metal, rather than plastic like the others, and3rd, the screw-in plug has a gasket on its bottom to insure a solid seal.The material is very thick, and for the cost of 1.5 HW bottles at the drugstore, I bought 2 of this clearly superior product.Re: the smell- it wasn't bad for us and we used the bottle within an hour of receiving it. YMMV.Update: The bottle above was purchased in March '18. It is now late March, 2019. After 10 months of excessive use (3-6x/day), sometimes with NOT recommended very hot water, the water bottle began to have some seepage. I consider this acceptable due to the "abuse" we've given it. I will buy again if necessary. 5The Good Ol' Days Are Still AroundI have a frozen shoulder and I am undergoing physical therapy to correct the problem. At the end of each therapy session the therapist puts a heat pack on my shoulder for about ten minutes. I also do an exercise regime at home twice a day. I thought I could use a hot water bottle to apply gentle heat after each iteration. A search of local all purpose drug stores and even Bed, Bath & Beyond led nowhere. Hardly anyone knew what a hot water battle is. Amazon took me where I needed to go. And the bottle is perfect for the task for which I wanted it. 5Looks like good qualityThe package arrived on time as advertised . Looks like good quality. However after reading the product information I was unhappy. Dont use tap water? Do not add boiling water? This is a hot water bottle. Dont lie on it. Dont store it with anything on top of it? What kind of water am I supposed to use? 3Sometimes the low tech old-fashioned solution is the right oneI like the bedroom cold, even in winter, but it sometimes takes a while to relax if my feet are too cold (which they always are in winter). It finally occurred to me someone designed a solution for this a loooooonnnnnggg time ago, so I got on Amazon to shop. When I saw the old-fashioned water bottle I knew that was the right thing. I've tried electric warmers before and they are usually TOO warm, and you have to wait forever for them to warm up, remember to turn them off, etc. And you have to be near an outlet!So, yes, it feels and smells like rubber - because it is. The rubber smell doesn't bother me and I know it mostly fades with time. Anyway, my feet can't smell it :) And water from the tap that's hot to the hand is plenty warm enough to do the trick. I fill it about 2/3 of the way up, screw in the top and slide it into the bottom of the bed a few minutes before I get it. Once in, I can put my chilly feet on it and in a very short time I am warm all the way through (that's the funny thing about cold feet - they cause a chill everywhere else!), and can relax to have a nice sleep.Next day you can water your plants or whatever. 5By design safer than other brandsBuy THIS hot water bottle because the opening into the bag itself is wider and is made of metal. I had one for a # of years till it got a leak that had a narrower opening and I had to be really careful when filling it to go slow, or it would literally spit back up at me and I had had almost boiling hot water hit me in the face and splash on my hands. This one I can fill from the faucet or from the kettle with no problems at all. I didn't even realize that it was the faulty design of my last one that was the problem. I'm really happy I bought this particular brand. The company shipped promptly with no problems.So not all hot water bottles are built the same. I do have a heavy felt cover from a prior bottle, that I then put over this one.This is the one you want. I have had 3 water bottles in my life. Never tried them until later in life and they're awesome! I fill mine up about 15-30 minutes before I go to bed with just boil water or hot water from the tap. I don't like the heat from an electric blanket and years ago had a problem with one of those blankets that sparked. While I know they are made much better now, I still don't trust it and especially for something covering me in my sleep. I put the bottle in where my feet will be -- walk away for a bit, then get into bed and move the bottle around a bit to take the chill off other areas. The moist heat is also very soothing. Typically before I fall asleep I move the bag to just behind my low back. By that type the toes and leg area is all nicely warmed up. 5and it has made my entire house smell like tires. The rubber smells so bad i have to keep this outside because it gave me a headache. Not happy. 1Rusted and ScratchedI might have got badly used item. The metal opening area has rusted and there are lots of scratched marks on the surface of body!!! Be aware that the diagonal line pattern is only on the front side. Lastly, the cap is not smooth with may burrs. 1Good Choice!I've wanted a hot water bottle for a while, and I'm so happy I chose this one! The cap feels really secure, and that was something I was really concerned with since I didn't want any spills on my bed. I really like the color and the size, and wasn't interested in a hot water bottle with a case or sweater thing that I saw while browsing.I live in an old dorm, and the water from a faucet doesn't get extremely hot, so I was worried that the warmth wouldn't come through the water bottle enough. But it works just fine! I love filling it up and laying in bed watching TV when I'm chilly, or using it to put heat on anywhere I'm sore of have cramps. The smell that I read about on a few reviews really wasn't noticeable. It smelt kind of like new rubber, and wasn't overwhelming or anything.As a college student with no microwave (so I can't get a microwavable heat pack), and a budget (so I don't want to waste money on disposable heat patches--also this is a pretty good price), this is a great addition to my life.
