So far, so good.I've suffered from monthly migraines for years, usually enduring an incredibly severe bout of them due to stress related causes. They're often extensive with aura, nausea, vomiting, numbness in the extremities and face, and of course, throbbing pain on one side of the head for roughly six hours and a post-drome after effect. Suffice to say, I know pain and I can empathize with all those that have to endure this horrid physical event which thankfully I sporadically only have to tolerate. Thus, rather than deal with the prescribed drugs which I have dealt with in the past and often, don't provide any major relief, I chose to just figure out a preventative route. Right now I take two basic magnesium supplements and this. So far, no migraine for a month. I'm already on my second bottle of this stuff, which is typically rare since most supplements are more miss than hit for me. With prolonged use, I feel this may be the best option. I'll update later in the future if I do get a massive, overdue migraine at some point or if this stuff actually does prevent them. 5AMAZING for Migraine ReliefThis has been the most amazing product for migraine relief. My 14 yr old daughter had a migraine for 2 weeks straight, she was in and out of the ER and took Motrin, a week of high dose prednisone, had two toradol shots and a bunch of other acute migraine meds and nothing worked for more than a few hours. We finally consulted with two pediatric neurologists and they told us about Butterbur. They told us that we had to take a very specific type or it wouldn't work. Apparently studies in the last few years have proven it is effective or more effective than migraine maintenance medicine like Topamax. The requirements were it had to be 75MG twice a day and it had to be PABA free. We struggled to find 75MG PABA free Butterbur and discovered NOW makes it. I was hesitant to buy it because it had FeverFew in it but after searching for so long for the right dosage I went ahead and bought it. Two days in to taking this she was 100% migraine free. We were all so excited!! She took it for about a month and then got lazy and stopped. Well, her migraines came back after about a week of being off of it and she went back on it and is migraine free. I highly recommend this product and don't try to cut corners. We did that when she ran out while we were out of state on vacation. We had to buy a different brand and it was 150mg with a bunch of other ingredients and it did not work. It made for a not very fun vacation. :( 5Try this, you won't be disappointed!! I highly recommend Butterbur to anyone who suffers from migraines. You need to take it three times a day. Or 1 in the AM and 2 in the PM. It will take about a month or so before you start to feel better. This is amazing! My partner of 15 years, has suffered with terrible migraines most of her life. I just can't rate Butterbur high enough. I would definitely rate this far above 5 . I would give it 10 !! 5Highly recommend for migraines with nauseaI get fairly frequent migraines and thought I would try something new after having had luck with a new prescription medication. This medication doesn't make my migraine go away immediately, but I start with two, then take one more each hour until it is gone and if I take it early enough it makes it so I can actually get through my day with just a slight headache rather than going home with a full blown migraine. The best part is that it does not upset my stomach like ibuprofen or prescription meds I've tried and I think it actually helps with the nausea that I so frequently get with my migraines. Like all headache meds, the earlier I take this, the more success I have. If I even feel a bit of tension in my forehead or start getting that slight pain behind my eyes I will take just one and it will keep it from developing into a debilitating headache. If you have similar symptoms to what I've described, I highly recommend giving this a shot. 5Elminated Post-Concussive MigrainesDisclaimer: results DO vary from person to person - this is the experience I have witnessed first hand. My son (who is a teenager) suffered a severe concussion from over the summer and we thought he was fine because the headaches went away after a couple of weeks. He didn't tell us until several months later that he had started getting severe migraines (think daily pain level at a 5/6 out of 10) about another 2 weeks after we thought he was healed...had to see a neurologist, was put on some meds and told to increase his Vitamin B and Magnesium intakes....3 weeks later and still no change and his pain is getting worse (went from a 5/6 to a 7/8 with an occasional 9 thrown in there)...had found this whilst doing some research for supplements (and verifying what the doc said about Vitamin B and Magnesium) and had held off initially on buying it, but since he still wasn't getting better I followed my gut and purchased it. Took first dose on a Friday night and by Sunday (1 pill two times a day) his pain levels were down to 2/3...several days later and no more headaches. I truly believe adding this product into his regimen made all the difference. 5Bought for Migraines and Wasn't DisappointedI chose this product when I was going through a month-long migraine. I had been using an overpriced all-in-one product that I simply couldn't afford. One of the ingredients was Butterbur which has been shown to help migraines and it definitely helped mine. I combined this with Magnesium Threonate and Glycinate, and Vitamin B-2. I've gone from having daily migraines to once or twice a month. 5Absolutely amazing results!There's a family history of migraines; Mama, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunts, cousins, etc. I had my first migraine a 5 yrs old. Yep, you read that right...5 yrs old. The older I've gotten the worse they've gotten. I'd tried a couple of prescriptions over the years but it never lasted more than a couple of months. When I hit 40 the joys of changing hormones made it worse & I started having a migraine sometimes once a week & when our good friend PMS came to visit I was in bed with an ice pack on my head nearly praying for death. I did some research and found out about feverfew so I stopped at a health food store I've gone to before and told him what I needed & why but instead of feverfew, he suggested butterbur and specifically this brand. After two weeks of no headache at all (not even the annoying ones that hit when you're wondering how big of a hole it would take to hide your co-worker in). That was May 2015 and so far I've only had 1 migraine but that was my fault....too caught up in my niece's wedding & forgot to get them. I live in FL so sinus headaches are common but this has even helped that. In the last year + since I started using butterbur, 4 of my cousins have started taking it and only one has had more than 1 or 2 migraines. I can't say enough how wonderful this product is and how much it has helped me. If you're on other meds check with your doctor first, but if you have a problem with migraines please, please, do yourself a favor and try this. 5Butterbur Is A Lifesaver Against MigrainesAs a chronic migraine sufferer (20 days or more per month), I can tell you that I've tried a lot of different medications prescribed by a lot of different doctors. It wasn't until I went to the Mayo Clinic and saw a neurologist there that we found a prescription medication that gave a partial solution to reduce down the severity and length of my migraines. Unfortunately, it did not solve all of the issues. So, some experimentation with Butterbur was done to supplement the prescription medications. Thankfully, this has helped dramatically. I only have one or two bad days per month now; which I couldn't say happened strictly on prescription medications. (One additional benefit to taking Butterbur has been with reducing down my seasonal allergies.)Over the past 6 months, I have taken a different brand of Butterbur; but decided to change after reading positive reviews about Feverfew which has been shown to be an additional effective treatment for migraines; but, also for seasonal allergies. Since starting the NOW brand, I have not noticed any ill effects or differences versus the other Butterbur brands on the market.Important to remember: Butterbur takes 30 to 60 days to build up in your system before it becomes effective for migraine relief. Many people complain that it doesn't work; but, they have only taken it a few days. This is nowhere near long enough to make a good evaluation if Butterbur will work or not. 5I had given up!I thought I had tried everything for my chronic migraines. They have been getting progressively worse since I had children and I was getting at least one a week. And sometimes they would last for 3 days. When you have a 5, 3 and 2yr old at home....well it s just hell.I didn t want to go down the Rx route because I m a nurse and I ve seen the ripple effect they cause. I tried supplements my MD suggested. I forget what all I tried. I know there was B2, magnesium (spray and pill), riboflavin, omega 3s and feverfew. I also tried diet, which worked after a 2 week migraine. But it caused me so much intestinal distress that I couldn t continue. My neurologist suggested massage and exercise, but that did nothing. The chiropractor made it worse :-( And then I just gave up.Then, I stumbled across a study that recommended this. I ve only been taking this for 3 weeks, but 3x I ve felt like a migraine was coming and 3x it didn t happen! I ve don t remember the last time I made it through my period without a migraine!The only side effect I ve noticed is that it makes me really sleepy in the afternoon. But that s been improving.I ll update if I have any changes. But, even if this only got me out of 3 migraines, it was totally worth it! 5SIDE EFFECTS SUCH AS HEADACHES AND MOUTH SORESI'm so glad another reviewer wrote about the FeverFew in this blend. I thought I was crazy after a month of taking this and getting tiny headaches (not migraines) and having small sores in my mouth with a strange taste. At first I wasn't sure what was going on. It reminded me off certain antibiotics that leave a taste in my mouth. Then I read another reviewer and when I researched FeverFew I found it can cause issues with the mouth. Unfortunately as with any herb, you don't know if you'll be someone who reacts in a negative way. I think NOW has great products, it's just that this product didn't work for me. 1
