We love that they are gluten free but still taste greatThese bars are sooo delish! We love that they are gluten free but still taste great. However, if you are used to regular bars from the grocery store, you may not like them. My mother tried them and she didn't like them at all. But she's used to eating sugary gluten bars. If you're used to eating more natural "alternative" foods, then you will probably enjoy these. These are on our subscribe and save list, so we get a box every month. We love taking them with us when we go places since there are usually not many healthy options when traveling. 5Good for Allergy Sensitivities - wish sugar was lower.NuGo Free Dark Chocolate Crunch is a good protein bar choice for my allergies to nuts, peas, seeds, and soy. I will buy again. However, its a bit tough to chew, and I wish the protein (9 grams) was a bit higher and the sugar(11 g) a bit lower. However there simply are not many protein bar choices for my allergies. 4Disappointed that ingredients have changed...I have been a very, very loyal fan of the dark chocolate version of these bars for years. With multiple food sensitivities and an often on-the-go schedule, they have been lifesavers. I go through a stack of boxes of them every month (really -- very loyal fan). Occasionally, I'd receive a batch that seemed a little harder or less fresh than usual, but I kept on. Since I order so many, I usually checked costs on a few sites and bought in bulk when prices were lower. A few months ago, I noticed that my local Whole Foods was out of them, but then they never came back. They were scarcer online for a while, too. When I was finally able to reorder the the dark chocolate bars, I noticed that the packaging had changed slightly -- along with a tweak of the ingredients. Now the bars contain probiotics. What?? I have my probiotics intake covered already and don't necessarily want them added here. Along with the change in ingredients came a bit of a change in texture and a tiny difference in taste. They seem less substantial now. I'm not sure what the reasoning could have been here, if it was to increase profit margins, jump on the growing mainstream popularity of probiotics (I'm not even sure how much would be absorbed in this form), etc., but I preferred the original version. 5It tastes good to me (more now than at the beginning)I use these as a healthy alternative when I want protein. It tastes good to me (more now than at the beginning), and has a full 9 g of protein. It also doesn't spoil (if I keep it out of the heat). I've tried all the bars but I need Gluten Free, Soy Free and Dairy Free. This is my go to snack if I can't eat fresh food. 5Not like the "NuGo Dark, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Dairy Free"I knew it was smaller when I looked at the weight (1.59oz vs 1.76oz for the Dark Chocolate Chip). They are both vegan and gluten-free, so I thought the difference would be minimum, but I was wrong. Besides being smaller (expected), this one has a much dryer texture, it's SUPER salty and not quite as chocolaty. I detested and won't buy it again. In fact, I ate only one and will not even finish the box. I bought two boxes, so I will be donating them to some gluten-free person (I'm not celiac). 2I had to make a rule for myself so I wouldn't eat the box all at onceI am gluten and soy free (not by choice) and so I appreciate food that I can eat that is also tasty. I find these bars to be simply delicious - maybe the best I've tried. If you generally like bars, I would strongly recommend this one. I have one for breakfast every morning, before my baby goes down for a nap and I can prepare something from "real" food. They're a great way to have a little protein on the go and the little bit of chocolate is a treat. I made a rule for myself: I can only have one a day! 5Delicious and nutritious!These bars are absolutely delicious and they don't make me feel like I'm eating a candy bar for breakfast. They are great for on the go or for a snack. Mornings are rather hectic with four kids, and my husband and I don't always get an opportunity to have a good breakfast. As someone who is gluten free, that seriously limits some of the quick-breakfast options, as well. Also, we are generally not enormous fans of processed products. So with all of those factors in mind, this NuGo FREE Dark Chocolate Train Mix bar was a fantastic find for us. We continue to subscribe to them and will for years to come as long as they are available. 5Tasty treat for vegans, or anyone!When you can't eat cashews (allergy), oats, corn, or animal products... where do you turn for a quick snack bar? Well NuGo answered. The majority of this bar is rice, which is just fine. There is a bit of sugar though, but it's not super sweet. Basically it's rice, vegan chocolate, sweeteners, and then a few seeds and a touch of oil, salt and cranberries. The ingredients:Rice Protein Crisp (Rice Protein Concentrate and Rice Flour), Crisp Rice (Rice Flour), Semi Sweet Dark Chocolate (Sugar, Unsweetened Chocolate, Cocoa Butter), Crystalline Fructose, Almonds, Tapioca Syrup, Brown Rice Syrup, Organic Agave Syrup, Chicory Root Fiber, Cranberries (Sugar), Rice Protein, Pumpkin Seeds, Flaxseed, Water, Organic Acacia Gum, Flaxseed Oil, Natural Flavors, Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate), Salt, Walnuts.160 calories5g fat27g Carbohydrate4g Fiber13g Sugar9g ProteinNot bad for a between meal snack. And the price is right on Amazon. Cheaper than Whole Foods and they are fresh, not old boxes (like some of the bars I've bought from Amazon). Prime shipping also.I also recommend LaraBars for an even more stripped down and wholesome bar (though many have cashews...). The carrot cake and the chocolate chip brownie LaraBars are amazing! 5Not as good as it used to beI have been eating the chocolate Go Free trail bar for several years now as part of my GF diet. I have noticed a downturn in quality -- the product does not seem as fresh and easily chewed as it used to (the almonds can be very hard). It has been doing a number of my teeth (actually broke a tooth on a bar). Even the chocolate does not taste as flavorful anymore. Either something has changed in this once loved product or I have outgrown the product. 2These bars are lifesavers!I find these bars absolutely delicious. I don't know what I would do without them. I have numerous food sensitivities and these bars are the only great tasting bars out there that avoid every single one of them. I agree with the other reviews that the quality level of these bars do fluctuate which appears to be both a factor of bar freshness and manufacturing quality control. Now that I am buying these bars from Amazon, which I am thrilled at with 8 cases a month, freshness is now more consistent. Even with fluctuating taste, however, I have never eaten a bar that I didn't want to finish. 5
