Truly Gluten Free ProteinHave always loved this protein. Though it takes some effort to mix well, it is gluten free. I've confirmed this by calling the company who stated that the unflavored, non-organic rice proteins on processed on equipment that does not process gluten. The organic rice protein and pea protein are processed on the same equipment as gluten; HOWEVER, there is a thorough allergen cleanse prior to running the gluten free products. AND, Nutribiotic does random testing on their proteins looking for 5ppm (much lower than the required 20ppm or less) for gluten free items. AND, they not yet to get a reading higher than 5ppm. So, as a person with a severe wheat allergy, I feel great about using this product. Wish all manufacturers were as transparent. 5A cleaner protein powderI have been using this product for about two years now. After doing a lot of research, I found this to be the best protein powder for me due to it's short ingredient list with stuff I recognize (I like products that are organic and have no unnecessary additives) and containing zero dairy.While I love this powder, I will say that if you are looking for a protein powder to drink right from the container, this might not be the best choice. The reason? It does not have much flavor on its own. It can also be a little chalky especially if you do not use milk (I personally use almond milk). I do not recommend using water with this powder as it really brings the flavor to a whole other level of gross (it works 100000x better with milk). To help this powder out, I add a tablespoon of cacao powder and a teaspoon of honey to my 12oz drink (I also like to add chia seeds). After those extra touches, it tastes great to me. You could of course also add this to your smoothies if you are into that sort of thing.So despite the flavor not being all that great on its own and needing a little help (which is not too much trouble for me to fix), this powder has a decent amount of protein content and is perfect for anyone wanting to avoid dairy and consume a more natural protein powder. 4Horrible Taste!!!!!!!WARNING- Do not buy this product at this time. We ve been buying and drinking this protein powder for years. Loved it. Last two jugs we bought, which expired 2021, were horrible. Smelled and tasted rancid. Not kidding. There is something seriously wrong with this. After I drank it the first time my stomach was upset and I had digestive issues. Returned both containers. (Vanilla and Plain) Do not drink this until they figure out what happened. Somehow this product or batch went bad. So upset about it. It was a staple at my house and there was never a problem till now. 1Mix+mix+mix= grainyI am finishing up this tub of rice protein, but it is doubtful that I will buy it again. No matter how I mix this, the result is almost like drinking a scoop of sand from the beach, without the sunshine. The taste is very neutral, so you can change it up for variety and when mixed it looks "chocolate" (but it is just the color of the powder). The best that it blended was with a frozen banana and plain greek yogurt, however even then the grainy sand coated my throat. I will give it 3 stars because nutritionally it is a sound product and has a decent protein-carb-calorie ratio- if you can go against the grain and get past the taste. 3Don t drink this till they investigateWARNING- Do not buy this product at this time. This SHOULD have a sweetish, vanilla smell and flavor. This last batch that arrived was horrible (I just boxed it up for shipping or I'd add the lot number). It smelled and tasted like mud/clay. I'm returning it for another tub and hoping it's a better batch. I'm wondering if the varied reviews are because of the inconsistencies in quality. If I had gotten this tub the first time I tried it I would never have ordered it again. But when it's a good batch, it's awesome and I drink 2-3 smoothies a day with it. 4PERFECT VEGAN PROTEIN POWDERI love this protein powder! It is so worth spending the extra money for the raw organic formula. It has more nutrition and it tastes soooooo much better. I'm a vegan and I mix it with almond milk or make smoothies with fruit every morning for extra protein. I just wish it wasn't so expensive! 5I don't know what I would do without this.I have digestive problems, Celiac disease, and a lot of food allergies, so getting enough protein in my diet is difficult. This rice protein is a life saver! I drink it every morning and it gives me energy and helps me keep even energy levels throughout the day. I am insulin resistant due to some other health issues I have and this product has helped with that so much. I have also lost 19 lbs since using this which is a huge deal for me. I tend to gain weight very easily due to the insulin resistance and also thyroid issues. I haven't changed anything else in my routine at all except for adding this protein every morning. I highly recommend this! It also has a very nice flavor. 5Organic, pure, tasty and healthy!I've been using this product for 20 years. It is good for those who don't do well with any other powdered protein such as soy, spirulina, or whey. Rice is alkaline so it is good for those who have acidic systems. I mix two tablespoons of this with one tablespoon of psyllium husk. Mix very well (actually shake it in a closed container) with two cups of water. Let it sit for 90 minutes to soften the husk then take it prior to my breakfast as a combination of protein supplement and fiber. Very important for this old vegetarian! I love the vanilla flavor (although it comes plain too) and the fact that it's organic. I understand that rice is one of the most hypoallergenic types of food... 5Organic Vanilla Rice Protein Differs in Taste and Texture From Non-Organic ProductI have used the non-organic Nutribiotic Rice Protein for over a decade without issue. At one time, it cost $23 for 3lbs. although the price has increased significantly over time. I mention the price because the non-organic product had finally reached $40, identical in price to the organic formula, so I figured I'd give the organic version a go. BIG MISTAKE.The organic version has the texture of micro wheat bran flakes which turns to a sludge when mixed with fruit, juice, and yogurt. It tastes acidic almost like what I imagine paint thinner would taste like if it were added to a drink. Frankly, the flavor was so vile, that I couldn't even drink a second sip of the organically-infused protein shake. The vanilla flavor was lost in the mix. It was awful on a level that was pretty tough to match. Worse than what I would imagine carob might be to a Swiss dark chocolate connoisseur.If I could have given negative stars to the organic formulation, I would have done so. I seldom take the time to write a product review, but this situation was so extreme, it felt almost negligent not to write one. On the upside, I received a replenished supply of the old tried and true non-organic version and consumed it this morning with a palpable relief. With any luck, Nutribiotic will learn from its organic formulation error and fix the problem promptly. 1
