Fantastic brace!I have a non-displaced radial styloid fracture. A thumb brace or wrist brace didn't provide the appropriate stabilization I desperately needed. This brace works PERFECT!! It's comfortable and doesn't make my arm sweat. It keeps my thumb abducted, and my wrist completely immobilized. The only negative thing I have to say which is really my fault. The brace slides a little and that's because I ordered the wrong size. I should have ordered a smaller size. Other than my oops, the brace works great! 5Snaggy, but sturdyRealized out of the box this brace wouldn't work for adaptive sports, but needed one on short notice after an aide "misplaced" 3 of my 4 braces.Positives*Seems sturdily built*Holds the thumb slightly under palm, which would make for a better grip than my previous de Quervain's brace.Unfortunately, there's a design flaw: * Velcro loops on the outside of the brace (instead of on the straps) are going to catch on and snag everything.Also, this is a problem for me, but may not affect other folk:* Tightening the wrist strap enough to stabilize the carpal tunnel makes the damaged thumb tendon hurt. Loosening the brace enough to be comfortable for the thumb means it's floating around the wrist. 2had better stability and was half the price of my discontinued ...I use my OTC wrist/thumb splint for tendonitis (too many hours on the cell, the trackball and workbench-they call it DeQuervain's tenosinovitis) to give my wrist and thumb a rest when lifting, lugging, cooking or on those days when it aches.The wrist is immobilized with metal strips encased in soft padding. Despite the padding, the cuff has a relatively low profile. I prefer the black color because it looks less orthopedic than the buff colored versions. I ordered this when the splint I had been using was discontinued. The OTC splint, which protects the thumb as well as the wrist, had better stability and was half the price of my discontinued model. It is also better padded. In addition, the couple of rub spots I had been getting with the old splint are a thing of the past. The cuff comes with extra length on the Velcro closures, so there is plenty of overlap if you are at the larger end of the size you select. You can cut off the excess if you are at the smaller end. A swish in hot soapy water is all that is needed to keep it fresh. An excellent product for a nagging problem, and the price means I can keep a backup set and reorder without breaking the bank. 5Helps heal de quervains tendonitis!So I suffered from tendonitis in my left wrist. It was so severe that I actually went to urgent care (I avoid doctors like crazy)... after being prescribed a topical medicine, I thought I'd be fine. Unfortunately, I started getting all of those awful side effects that the package warns you about so I had to stop using it. I was pretty frustrated because I had been dealing with symptoms for months and no homeopathic remedy was helping either.So, I bought this brace. I kid you not, within a week of wearing it, the pain had been reduced substantially. I tried another brace first and it caused a bit of irritation around my thumb... but not this one! I bought 2 so I could wear one while the other was washing... within a month my wrist didn't hurt anymore. Whenever my wrist starts acting up, I just pop one of these on and within a week, I feel better! It's super easy to wash and extremely comfortable because it's highly adjustable. I definitely recommend this! 5Not quite right for me, but might work for youI suffer from De Quervain's tenosynovitis. I received the perfect thumb/wrist splint from my doctor for my left wrist but months later needed one for my right. I didn't want to pay for another doctor's visit so I decided to find one myself. I tried countless splints from the drug store but none of them worked. This one does the job, however, it digs into my hand/wrist which makes it uncomfortable and sometimes painful to wear. My solution was to shove a sock or ace bandage into the areas that were giving me trouble. I doubt there is anything wrong with this splint other than it doesn't fit my small hand/wrist right. 3Great product for a great priceMade from durable top quality materials. Soft interior, comfortable shape that adjusts to any form of hand. Other brands are said to cause blisters with extended use. Doesn t look bulky like the other longer OTC model. I followed the sizing chart and it fits great (if you re in between sizes, I suggest to go for the lower size, which I did). I've seen similar products in pharmacies and the price is way higher that these. I haven't had any problems with these. They are comfortable, small enough to let you do everyday activities and it looks good. I had some issues with my left wrist after shoveling in the field. Not sure if it was wrist tendonitis or De Quervain's syndrome, as I never went to the doctor LOL! But it turned out fine. The pain is gone. My thumb has full range of motion painless again. My wrist tendons doesn't creek now. It took a while. Like 4 months. Fact is, this splint helped me immobilize my wrist, thus easing the pain in the worst days. After that the pain went gradually away. I was not limited in my daily activities while wearing this splint. If you have trouble with your wrist or thumb, rest, rest, rest. That's the secret, and the pain will slowly go away if it's a tendon issue (this is because tendons have a lower blood flow. Oxygen does not reach them quite as good as in muscles and recovery is S L O W. Be patient though, and be optimistic). Overall, excellent choice to treat wrist tendonitis (in my case). I d definitelly recomend it. Hope this helps. 5I am very disappointed. Now we are heading out of town and ...This came used! Nowhere in the description say that this was going to be used. The inside material is shredded and the velcro is full of fuzzies from past use, etc. I am very disappointed. Now we are heading out of town and are stuck with my daughter either being in pain on vacation so we can return this or taking it, which is VERY different than the picture indicates, which may or may not help her. I have never really been so disappointed in an order. If I could give less than one star, I would. 1So for my particular issue it s not a good choice. It is marketed for my conditionI bought this as required by my orthopedic dr. I have de quervains. This brace... and any other one that touches the part of my wrist below my thumb, only irritate it more. It s tricky because it made my thumb more stable for sure, but it needs a cut-out in that one area. So for my particular issue it s not a good choice. It is marketed for my condition, which is a mystery to me. When I shared it with my Dr, she said that others have complained as well. Hope this helps you make your choice. 3Great for petite/small adults and childrenAs a person who is 5 2 . This is a wonderful brace that isn t sooo long that my forearm isn t all wrapped up in a brace. I have DeQuervain s tendinitis. My doctor loves the brace, but said yesterday that he wants me in a longer one most of the time for now. So I have ordered the model 2087 - 8 as well. I really like how the thumb isn t pulled out (abducted) like so many other braces. On one other note though, I wish that the seam at the thumb was made flatter . I am wearing a plastic splint on the inside to cover that seam. Add a stockingnette for comfort.PS. I ve had to cut away where the seam sticks out at the base of the thumb. It was putting too much pressure into the base of my thumb. 5Good if you need it!I tried a few different splints for my torn wrist tendon and this was by far the best. I'm wearing it now. DOn't bother getting other ones - just go straight to this one if you need your thumb to be immobilized. This one works. The only problem is the velcro catches on sweaters, fabric, etc.but there's no way around this. I just keep my sleeve pushed up. 5
