Tiptree Marmalade Tawny Orange - The best marmalade in the worldThe world's very best orange marmalade. My wife and I discovered it while staying at the Athenaeum Hotel in London about forty years ago . It was worth getting knocked up for. A breakfast treat I couldn't do without. No other marmalade I've ever tasted, even comes close to being as delicious as this is. The bitter-sweet, thick cut, Seville oranges give it a taste that is so good, I'm going to the refrigerator now for an afternoon treat. Once tasted, this will become your marmalade for life. The only way to bring a crumpet to one's mouth.If you think the above is an exaggeration, you've never tasted it. This is to marmalade, what Beluga 'triple ought fine' was to caviar. However, you can still buy Tiptree, but sadly, Beluga's no longer available. By the way, if you like strawberry jam, try their Little Scarlet. (A little pricy, but more than worth it.) If you want a sickeningly sweet marm, then buy any USA brand to slather on your whatever. But, if and I do mean if, you want the flavor of the rind lovingly made into marmalade, then do order. Order now and often. Yes, it does take a little time to come across the "pond" but all good things will come to those who wait. Much improved over the original.Awful delivery method and now I have to pull out the power washer....1Makes Breakfast Your Favorite MealNot only is this a superior, appropriately bitter English marmalade, it also does not require refrigeration after opening as do most marmalades made in the U.S. Room temperature is ideal for this near-perfect marmalade, shipped with ample packaging to prevent dents in the lid that can allow sticky seepage. Just be careful to avoid using the same knife as used to butter your toast. (Butter inadvertently mixed into the marmalade can give rise to mold.) Otherwise, spread this unrefrigerated marmalade to your heart's content and savor with unmitigated pleasure. It makes breakfast my favorite meal.5Great taste, and no high-fructose corn syrup!!!!Now I can make Victoria Sandwiches for tea! First batch arrived with one jar having escaped its packaging. I saw the contestants making their own jams, jellies, lemon curd, custard... But what caught my eye was orange marmalade. I took to YouTube to find out how to make my own, but turns out the process is much more involved and time consuming than I could commit. I wanted my little piece of England and I wanted it now!So I took to Amazon and found Wilkin & & Sons Tawny Orange Marmalade. It had good reviews. I placed my order.My first taste was shocking. It was dark and bitter. It had huge pieces of chewy bitter rind. It was nothing like those little squares of Smucker's marmalade that comes with the side of toast with the breakfast combo from the local diner. I thought I hated it.However, because I hate to waste, I went back, and tried a little at a time. After a couple of days, the shock wore off and now I am completely in love with and addicted to this dark complex tasting marmalade. It is soooooooo good!!! I will say that it is definitely for an adult palate. My kids (3 and 5) hate it, which is actually great for me. Finally, something I don't have to share!When I don't have anything to spread it on, I eat it out of the jar. When I don't want to ruin the taste of it with a piece of baked good, I eat it out of the jar. When I feel like a bit of marmalade, I eat it out of the jar. I pretty much just eat it out of the jar...It's been a week and half. I'm back here to write this review and order my second of many many jars of this wonderous marmalade.If you like marmalade that is not super sweet with lots of fruit, try it. You won't be disappointed.5You'll never want to go back to the cloyingly sweet marmaladesI was going to give this a lower rating at first due to the powerful bitterness (and believe me, if you've never had it, it *is* powerful), but the more I had it, the more I grew to like it. REALLY like it. You get yourself an English muffin (blasphemy, I know), toast & butter it, and spread this on it, and once your brain adjusts, you'll be in marmalade heaven.5YES! YES! YES! The real deal!This should get six stars. At least. Just amazing stuff - full of fruit, the perfect balance of bitter and sweet. This is my first jar, and I'm completely blown away. If it could be thinned down enough to get through a hypodermic needle, I'd inject it directly into my veins. Seriously. On a good English muffin, it serves as proof that there's a God who truly loves us and wants us to be happy. Look no further.5Ginger preservesUPDATE below: Wow. If I could rate this 10 stars I would. The ginger preserve is truly delightful. But then, I LOVE ginger. It's spicy... it's got chunks of ginger. It's sweet (obviously - its a preserve!), but the spicy of ginger is the winner here. I actually put this in my tea. It tasty on toast... but my fav is the tea. I wish this was available locally, but I will continue to buy it online. If you love ginger, you are going to love these preserves. I'd buy it in a quart size jar if that was offered. Haha! I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. And I hope this review was helpful to you in some way.UPDATE: I was so happy with the product that I wanted to share with others... so I sent some to my sister - TWICE. Both times the items arrived broken, VERY poorly packed. Such a HUGE disappointment. It's very rare for Amazon - and they of course made it right. I am having to look for other avenues to purchase this brand. I hate to have to drop my review, but it you can't get it in good condition - it's not worth much. :(3
