So disappointed in this last orderSo disappointed in this last order, September'17! I don't drink it, but my husband does. I do love to open the new can though, as I love the smell of the freshly opened can. This batch does NOT smell as it should!!!!!!! And then, my husband said it didn't even taste right and threw out the cup I'd just made for him! And a package of 6 cans is $58!!!!!!!!! We have been buying this for my husband for a long time. Is this is new formula or is this last batch somehow in error?????? I hope the manufacturer sees this and responds!1Irish Breakfast Tea makes a Robust, Full-bodied Cuppa!I am an avid tea drinker, and Irish Black tea is my favorite of all the different blends of black tea. Usually I drink Twinings Irish Breakfast Tea in the tea bag form because it is simple and convenient. Recently I ve started to drink loose leaf teas (other brands included) and decided to give my favorite brand a chance.Twinings of London Irish Breakfast Loose Tea tastes exactly the same as the tea bag format it is simply delicious! It's a blend of the same fine black tea expertly selected from Kenya, Indonesia, India and China. I place 1 teaspoon of loose tea in an infuser basket inside a 30 oz teapot and fill with freshly boiled water. I brew for only 3 minutes as it is very strong in caffeine content. It is delicious with the addition of milk or cream and sugar. It has a lovely amber color with a bold taste and a smooth finish.What I did not like about Twinings Irish Breakfast loose tea, was the quality of the leaves themselves. There are no discernible leaves! The leaves are all crushed or milled into fine indistinguishable pieces. This was hugely disappointing even though it did not take away from the flavor of the tea itself.Overall Twinings of London Irish Breakfast Loose Tea truly delivers a robust full-bodied cuppa! Grade A5Not Loose LeafFor a freeze dried tea this was good, but it doesn't have the fullness of flavor you'd expect from a loose leaf tea. This is the same product you'd get in bags. Using this in an infuser will result in tea grounds at the bottom of your pot. Not what I was expecting from a company like Twinings.2Great taste of a black tea blendI purchased this in the six can pack which saves cost. It's the same as I can buy locally but a savings. I use this in a Keurig with a screened cup holder which I also bought through Amazon. I use one teaspoon for a 16oz cup, run the Keurig twice, and was able to get 32 servings a can. The expiration date was about in a year but the tea will be used well before then. The taste is a medium/strong flavor of a black tea. I use it with a little sugar and milk. No after taste or any type of add on citrus or herb taste. Twinings teas are my favorite brand.5A daily gift to myselfI have been a loose tea drinker (not personally but in reference to the presentation of the tea - loose vs. bag!) for the last 40 years - could never tolerate coffee, and the caffine in tea doesn't bother me a bit. In the last 5 or so years, I have shifted from Twinings Earl Gray tea to the Twinings Gunpowder Green Tea. I hate to say this, but I am a bit of a snob regarding tea, always drinking the premium brands, and Twinings is the ONLY green tea I buy. This is a very high quality green tea. Gunpowder is a bit stronger than some of the other greens, but one can acquire a tast for it. Just keep thinking how good it is for you. I usually drink it with lemon and a touch of honey. I drink it every day, all day; take a thermos of the brew to work to sip all day! If you haven't tried green ice tea, get ready for a treat. In the summer, when things get muggy and hot here, I brew a large teapot of green tea in the morning, adding a couple of slices of lemon and honey (add this while hot so it disolves completely). When ready for a glass to cool off, I pour a tall glass, add ice and relax. This purchase offered on Amazon is a fantastic deal. The individual tins are close to $7 in my local store, when they can stock it. As someone mentioned, if it seems too strong, just brew for a shorter time - never much longer than 3 minutes for any tea, but especially the Gunpowder. Next, I noticed that there was sediment in all the pots of tea. This was unusual because I had only seen this in the last several pots from a can of tea. The expiration date is in 2017 so the tea should be fresh. My only guess is that the tea got over heated somehow in storage before it was mailed to me. I finished that can of tea and opened a second one from the order. This one had a nice aroma and I have not seen much sediment.I have no idea what the other four cans of tea will be like. Hot, Like it strong w/ milk & homemade vanilla sugar !5Best Earl Grey TeaWhat s not to like. If you are a devotee of Earl Grey Tea like my wife, this is a great way to keep a good supply on hand. Other Earl Grey teas are often too weak, too strong, or have additional (unwanted) flavorings like lavender. This is just the real deal, reliable and tasty with milk as any proper English tea should be.5Best Tea in the World, Bar NoneApparently, buying 6-packs of the 3.53 oz is the cheapest per ounce. Going with the 7 oz tins results in a higher price per ounce, probably because of the sales volume of the smaller size.Some people complained when Twinings reformulated their Earl Grey back around 2011. I spent my teen years in the UK and fondly recall this as my favorite tea. I like the new blend even better, having a stronger bergamot flavor. I find this makes for a more refreshing and invigorating cup of tea due to the stimulating effects of the terpenes found in bergamot.With a Royal Appointment going back a couple centuries, you can never go wrong with Twinings. The Queen herself starts every day with a cup of this blend and, don't forget, Earl Grey was the beverage of choice for Captain Jean Luc Picard, as well as a favorite of Patrick Stewart.The company is finally working on their ethics as well and, while they are a bit late to the game, I believe, in time, the ethical questions about their trade and labor practices will go away. As a consumer, I am willing to accept the increase in price that comes with ethical production standards.5Pricier than the bagsI bought the loose leaf tea as an eco-friendly alternative to tea bags. I get 24 cups per tin, which makes the loose leaf tea a little more expensive than the bags. The loose leaf version tastes exactly the same. The tea is fresh and fragrant. If you prefer loose leaf tea then I recommend going for it.4
